Vidyarambam 2023

Vidyarambam is performed on Vijayadasami day, considered auspicious times for new beginnings. We commemorate vidyarambam in our Goddess Saraswathi temple. We take pride in upholding this tradition and welcoming our young learners with open arms. The Vidhyarambam ceremony at our school is a joyous occasion where children are introduced to their first lessons in writing and reading, often guided by their parents and teachers.

During the celebration, we conduct a special ceremony where children are encouraged to write their first letters or numbers on a plate of rice or sand, symbolising the start of their educational journey. The child is seated on the lap of a revered person, a priest or their parents. The child’s hands are placed on a plate of rice or sand. The priest writes the mantra “Om” and the alphabet on the child’s hand with the child’s finger. The child is then motivated to write or draw on the rice
