Today we, at SVVM SCHOOL have celebrated GITA JAYANTHI in a grand manner. All Slogans are being chant in Sri Vagisvari Amman temple . All the children participated enthusiastically.
Why we have to know The Bhagavad Gita?
The Bhagavad Gita is one of the world-scriptures today. It guides the lives of people all over the world. Mahatma Gandhi regarded it as the “Mother”, to whom the children (humanity) turned when in distress. Sri Swami Sivananda wants us to study daily at least one discourse of the scripture, so that its great lessons are ever fresh in our memory. Each discourse has been preceded by a short summary giving the substance of that discourse in a nutshell.
Essence of the Gita
“karmany evadhikaras te
ma phalesu kadachana
ma karma-phala-hetur bhur
ma te sango ’stv akarmani” (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Two verse 47)
“Sri Krishna said: You have a right to perform your prescribed duty, but you are not entitled to the fruits of action. Never consider yourself the cause of the results of your activities, and never be attached to not doing your duty.”
