A heritage visit was organized on November 22nd and 23rd for students of classes 5 to 10, with the objective of providing immersive learning experiences in history, art, and culture. The visit aimed to inspire innovation and creativity among young minds while enhancing their understanding of cultural heritage. The selected destinations were Pondicherry, often referred to as the “French Riviera of the East,” and Mahabalipuram, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its exemplary Dravidian art and architecture.
The first day was spent in Pondicherry, where students explored Auroville, the experimental township, the French War Memorial, the Pondicherry Museum, and the Rock Public Beach.
On the second day, the group visited Mahabalipuram, a historic town in Tamil Nadu famous for its ancient rock-cut temples and monolithic sculptures. The key attractions included the Shore Temple, the Five Rathas (Pancha Rathas), and the Butter Ball of Krishna, also known as Vaan Irai Kal.
These visits provided students with valuable hands-on learning, enabling them to engage with history and culture in a practical context, beyond the confines of textbooks. They also emphasized the importance of preserving cultural heritage and fostered a deeper appreciation for art and architecture.
