On November 19th and 20th, Vidhya Vishwalaya hosted an engaging Debate Competition for students of Grades 5 to 9 on the thought-provoking topic, “Cultural and Religious Festivals Created More Overall Positive Impact in the Past Than They Do Today.” The event provided an excellent platform for students to articulate their viewpoints while developing confidence, critical thinking, and effective communication skills.
Participants represented both the affirmative and negative sides of the motion, presenting well-researched arguments supported by relevant examples and logical reasoning. Their ability to express ideas with clarity, respond to counterarguments, and maintain respect for differing perspectives made the competition both insightful and inspiring.
The judges evaluated the participants based on content, confidence, clarity of speech, rebuttal skills, and overall presentation. The debate encouraged students to analyze contemporary issues from multiple perspectives while strengthening their public speaking and reasoning abilities.
The Debate Competition was a true celebration of intellectual curiosity and respectful dialogue. We are immensely proud of the enthusiasm and dedication displayed by every participant and look forward to many more opportunities that inspire informed discussion and confident expression.
